When it rains it pours

Now, I don't really have much to complain about...I know there are awful and sad things happening to people all over the world and that my things are just simple and silly. But I feel like since Dec. 28th, I just haven't been able to be myself! I was able to have a surgery to hopefully improve some pain I've been having, and so far, I haven't noticed a change. While that is frustrating, I also have been trying to get into shape...I started a program that would help me be able to run a comfortable 5k in about 8 weeks. Well, Monday night, I was PLOWED OVER during PTA skate night. Yes, in front of all of the students and their families. One boy from Lexi's class said, "Are you okay Mrs. Chapman?" and then immediately ran to tell his family of my crash and burn. Matt might usually snicker a bit and help me up and make sure I'm okay, but he said this looked BAD. He said I "superman-ed it" and I landed on my right side...my shoulder, elbow, ribs and hip.
I was in bad shape. I no longer felt young and carefree in my roller skates and holding the hand of the man I love. I was now in reality a 30 year old who hit the ground so hard it knocked a rib out of place and made my thigh muscle quit working on its own. FANTASTIC! Matt was worried. I'm pretty sure that with his "WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU DO THAT?" look he scared the crap out of the 17 year old chica who came out of nowhere.
Well, that messed up my dedicated routine. I hadn't missed a running day in 3 weeks. On Wednesday, I went to see the Spine Whisperer AKA Dr. Lincoln Clifford. This man works with the BYU football team and I truly believe he is the JEDI MASTER of fixing messed up bodies. WOW! My back honestly feels so much better and my rib is back in place. I know, I know..."Is she done complaining yet?" well the answer is, of course, NO! I got sick. The day after seeing the wonderful Dr. Clifford I started to feel a little sick. PLUS it was book fair week. I won't even get into my feelings about that. I was going to take a sick day on Thursday, but I couldn't. The book fair needed me and its okay...that's life and so I went. By Thursday night, I felt pretty awful. But...I had things to do. A lot of things. I had a rehearsal to conduct and I had a birthday party to throw. 80's style. It really was fun. I'm glad we did it. I needed to be around girls and have facials and try to swallow down some yummy treats. BOY am I glad I had no work on Friday. I am sorry that I didn't sleep at all and made my honey stay home so he could take me to the doc. They checked me for strep and asked a couple of WEIRDO questions that had nothing to do with my throat hurting so bad...and then told me it was a viral infection, possible bacterial settling in my throat. Basically, a sinus infection in my throat. It hurts worse than strep. It hurts worse than any darn throat thing I've ever had. We went to the store and got my prescriptions and headed home. I took some of my cough medicine and fell asleep faster than I can ever remember falling asleep in the history of forever. When I woke up, I needed food...I was hungry but I didn't feel like eating. Our friends helped us out and we ended up going to JCW'S and I got a vanilla shake. We watched some comedy (which I greatly needed to distract me from my woes) and then I went home to bed. You know when you have something planned for weeks and you can't wait until you are finally able to do it? That is the only reason why I ended up going with my daughter to the Mother/Daughter Valentine's Craft Day for Girl Scouts. I wanted to sleep til noon. It was fun. I was tired. We came home and I pretty much slept for a few hours. We were invited to a game night and I wanted to go so badly! I got all ready to go and was even feeling a little better (I had been on amox for over 24 hours...and I wasn't even contagious in the first place) so we decided to go. It was fun. I really loved it. I mean, a bunch of grown ups playing Mafia? AWESOME! But, I pooped out quickly. I was sick and tired. I had a blast...but I needed sleep and my throat in the mornings had been the worst. Plus, I need to bathe Lexi for church. So, we left and went home. I slept pretty well...but when morning came??? OUCH! Have you ever swallowed something prickly? I tried to help get Lou Lou ready and ended up back in bed until 11:30ish. I'm not a fan...I don't like missing church. I really don't like laying around all day. This week has GOT to have better things in store. My library is back to normal, my brother-in-law gets home on Wednesday from his mission, I get to go to Magelby's on a date this Saturday, Kevin's homecoming on Sunday and no work on the 15th...BRING IT ON!

I know I'm being whiny. I know it's not really that bad. But sometimes it just feels good to whine about it a little. I'm feeling better already. Thanks for listening.

Day 2-Some Kingdoms

(First picture of the day)

This morning it was VERY hard to get up. Even though we were headed to our first day in Disney World. We eventually headed out the door and arrived at Disney's Animal Kindom. The very first thing we did was go on the African Safari. Lexi was in heaven. If you don't know her at all, you might not know how much she LOVES animals!

(Hippos!)

(Elephants! And...my daddy)

The very second thing we did was go on a new ride that none of us had been on....Expedition Everest. I was nervous for Lexi. She doesn't do scary very well. I knew this ride involved a Yeti.

(I love my little family)

(caught without the fake smile...She was really scared of this ride)

(attempts to make Lexi laugh...kissy-face yeti!)

(Dad imitating the decorations...we did this A LOT!)

(Aw! Cute just like Lexi)

(I can't help being goofy...sorry mom!)

(This will make her smile! ANIMAL SCAT!)

(Look behind them. Dad wins...sorry, Lexi is too cute)

(Best part about this picture? We didn't know Lexi was in it.)

(I LOVE this picture of my mom and Lexi...darling. The snake I could do without.)

(Sorry for this, but...ancient toilet much?)

(Dad, Quick, go pretend to ride that bike.)

(Pretending Lexi is a hidden Mickey...do you see it?)

(I get my looks from my father.)

(Considering hanging this up next time I visit the temple.)

(Matt's attempt at being as goofy as the rest of us..."Hey Matt, go put your hand in that thing's mouth!")

(Look! We found my dad's nickname!)

Anyway, the first time we rode on it, she closed her eyes and ducked her head the WHOLE time...resulting in a neck ache. As we were leaving, she saw a little Yeti stuffed animal and so I took this opportunity to bribe her to try the ride again but this time with eyes wide open!

We left without a second ride (yet) and rode the Kali River Rapids. We all got pretty wet and it felt like heaven in this humidity and heat. In fact, Lexi loved it so much we eventually rode it later. So...leaving this ride that Lexi loved so much and back to Everest, was easier than I thought it would be. None of the "please just try's" and no whining. She rode it, loved it, got her yeti...and we rode it again later. I think it is in her top 5 favorite rides.

(Mom & Lexi stayed back and we rode the VERY LOUD dinosaur ride...hence the picture)

We had the opportunity to see Finding Nemo the Musical and we LOVED it. The actors carry puppets and the question was posed, "which one do we watch, the person talking or the puppet?" Well...I say both. The people who are acting and singing as the puppets are just as much the character as the puppet itself. It was amazing. The characters were fantastic and their voices were just like the characters in the movie. Disney does a great job at that. Lexi liked when Dory was upside down singing "tra la la la la la, keep on swimming". They were sometimes hoisted on wires and "swimming" around the stage. Really cool.

(Mr. Squish the Yeti, Lexi, and my mom in the Bug-eye glasses)
Other favorites included It's Tough to be a Bug, and the Primeval Whirl. This park has many walking tours (like a zoo) that lead to really great animals.

(My favorite animal)

(Prancer!)

(I was obsessed with these ducks...beautiful)

(A scary animal in the trees)

We sat and watched a hippo swim around and from underneath the water. It was sweet. Lexi says, "it was swimming laps".

(The head of the lap swimming hippo)

AND?????

(The bum)

(EVEREST!)

(My dad changed the display up a bit...I think it looks great in a hat)

(Photo spot! Everest in the background)

(A mysterious creature caught on film)

(Drumming time!)

We ended up going on the Kali rapids ride, Everest, and the Safari once more before leaving. The second safari ride was awesome and its true that it is never the same ride. It isn't planned...the animals are doing as they please, so if we see them at all, we are lucky.

(Yikes)

(Because even the back of Matt is handsome)

(Monkey with a bright blue rear end)

(Timon!)

Pictures snagged on the way out...

(She didn't know I was taking it...I love it so much! She looks so rad!)

(Random old building!)

(I love these)

(I LOVE Animal Kingdom)

The park closed early, around 6pm, so we left and took a bus ride and a ferry ride to the Magic Kingdom.

(Lexi on the boat ride)

(Magic Kingdom in OCTOBER! FUN!)

(I love them)

We were all very tired but found time for dinner, Buzz Light Year's Space Ranger Spin (Matt won), Stitch's Great Escape (LAME), and the awesome fireworks show.

(Totally Lex right here)

(Probably because I made her smile "normal")

(Thanks, Grandpa!)

Disney Day 1? Awesome.
